Safe & Secure Facilities

Incy’s, 3 months – up to 15 months

Our staff in Incy’s will endeavour to follow information provided by parents, such as sleep patterns and feeding routines.  We ask parents to provide own food and chosen milk until they are ready to have Nursery meals.  When your child is in Incy’s they will be involved in a variety of activities such as sand/water play, painting, food play and messy play, so no designer clothes please!

Everyday your child will have a ‘day sheet’ which will explain your child’s day, what they have eaten, how long they have slept etc.

Incy’s children will use the garden directly outside Incy’s whenever possible, we have a swing, sand pit and a variety of toys to explore.

Little Ted’s, 12-15 months to 2 years

In Little Ted’s we meet the individual needs of children up to the age of 2 years, providing them with fun activities and new challenges in a safe and stimulating environment.

All the children get involved with messy activities, painting, sand/water play, exploring a variety of food, all their work is displayed in the room as well as some being sent home to decorate the kitchen cupboards.

In this room the children explore mark making, sticking, inset puzzles and shape sorting amongst other activities.

The Music man visits Incy’s and Little Ted’s every Wednesday morning for half an hour, (term time only) providing an enthusiastic music and song filled session for all to enjoy.

Day sheets are also provided in this room.

Humpty’s, 2 years to 2 years, 6 months

We provide a safe and challenging environment for children up to the age of 2 years 6 months. In Humpty’s there are a variety of activities for extending your child’s learning.

This is our main ‘potty training’ room, although children can start as early or as late as they wish, staff are on hand to offer advice and support when needed.
Children learn all about colours and shapes along with lots of messy activities, the messier the better we say!

Outside play is a must and the children will venture into the garden to explore every day.

Jack and Jill’s, 2 years 6 months to 3 years

We provide a happy and successful environment for your child in Jack and Jill’s.  Staff plan a varied curriculum for the children based around children’s interests, these areas of learning are age appropriate and suitable for young children, often they will learn many of these skills through play, both adult led and co-operative play with their peer group.

Many children are still a little unsure with regard to toileting when they move to Jack and Jill’s and the staff within the room will help and encourage both you and your child to ensure a smooth transition into independence in this area.

Mother Hubbard’s 3 years to school age

Mother Hubbard’s offers an opportunity for the children getting ready for school to experience extended activities and new challenges enabling children to leave Rhymes confident and ready for school.  We help develop communication skills, concentration and general knowledge and understanding.  We encourage children to have good manners and respect for others.

Children are introduced to Phonics which supports the development of speaking, listening and the awareness of sounds.

Free Flow

Throughout our Pre-School floor we operate a ‘free flow’ system most of the day where children can access a wide range of resources and four rooms, construction, messy, role play and exploratory room.  Parents are kept informed about the topics, which flow through all four rooms.

The garden is used during free flow to ensure that all children have an opportunity to explore our mud kitchen and other areas of the garden.
